Although Dayton still has fans on board, it's been up and down. In Oxford on November 15th the Flyers were handed a narrow loss by the RedHawks, 72-67, in overtime.

Flyers morale will definitely take a hit with this unexpected loss. Last season, Dayton won 70-58. Going back four years, the Flyers are 4-1 against the RedHawks including 2-1 at John D. Millett Hall. Since 1980, the Dayton record against Miami (OH) is 19-21.

Miami (OH) overwhelmed Dayton in offensive rebounding as well as besting them in turnovers.

Offensive rebounding was a big problem for Dayton as Miami (OH) chalked up 11 offensive boards to six. Turnovers made all the difference, with 22 giveaways for the Flyers compared to 15 for the RedHawks.

Paul Williams was a bright spot against the RedHawks with 20 points on 61% shooting in 35 minutes, 12 of that coming from three-point range. Kevin Dillard added a game-high six assists.

In the end, Dayton wants to avoid any early season losses and, when coupled with some negative preseason expectations, this one is hard to overlook. The Flyers have fallen to 1-1 but still have a lot of basketball to play.

Up next is North Carolina-Wilmington at home on November 19th.
